Apples

Stripy Fujis (the round red things).

The second bike trip was to stay with Yurikos friend (Yoko)`s parents, Apple farmers in northern Japan.

Arriving in the neighboring prefecture by ferry, we rode the 2 days to their house and helped them pick their orchard of Fuji apples for 4 days.

When they came home late from picking on the first day we were there they were shocked to find a big Australian guy in their kitchen making them dinner. I introduced myself but they seemed so taken aback that I  didnt get their names at all, which feels a bit strange, but i just called them mum and dad, they didnt say otherwise!.

In the end, they really warmed to us, and they sent us off with the feast of all feasts on the last night, the mother said holding back tears that she was so thankful for our help because it is usually so busy, starting at 4 in the morning and working til dark to get the apples off the trees themselves. Such honest hard working people, Yuriko & I were grateful for their hospitality and the chance to make new friends.

Bonus, he doesn't need a ladder!
