Holy Mole', Erongaricuaro

Holy Mole', Erongaricuaro

Its been one month since we landed in Mexico, and we have been wwoofing in Erongaricuaro for 3 weeks.

My impression of Mexico has changed since i have been able to sit back and relax and think some whilst living here at Holy Mole'.

My first impression was one of noise and pollution, but that should have been no surprise coming directly from Japan. Anyway, it took me more than the first week on the road riding to appreciate the rhythms of life in Mexico, and now i am appreciating the sights and sounds more and more.

We have been going to a local farmers market once a week to get food, working hard on projects around the farm (making my first adobe's- or mud bricks was a highlight), been hiking in some hills around Eronga and attended an annual fiesta in town (and even hosted our own fiesta at Ed's place where we killed and butchered and cooked one of his sheep, i did a hungi which was fun).

Making adobe's. The old buildings in this area are all made from timber and mud brick, with terracotta tiled roofs, very beautiful and also functional, the temperature in these old buildings is relief from the scorching outside temperature.

From farmyard to dinner table, here Marceleno & I are preparing the sheep for the fiesta we held, people came with stories, smiles and music, and was a great dinner party.

We are thankful to Ed for letting us live with him, he has introduced us to a lot of Mexican culture here, and we have enjoyed many evenings dining and talking the night away with a view that has to be seen to be believed. Most of all though Ed has reminded me to appreciate, love and be happy. Thanks ED for keeping me on my journey.

We will be on the road again next week, heading further south, to a state called Oaxaca, which will take us more than a month to get there if we dont stop somewhere along the way, our journey south might take any number of turns.
